A Review: Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto Multi-Pen

From Sharpie Pens to Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto

Before switching to the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto multi-pen, I was a serious obsessed Sharpie pen enthusiast. I loved the tip of the Sharpie pen and the selection of colors available. But I soon realized it was quite inconvenient carrying around ten individual pens so I could color code on the go.

When I finally decided to switch over to the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto I had read some negative reviews. Mainly, I had read that the Coleto quickly ran out of ink. But I decided to give the Coleto an opportunity, regardless of the negative reviews.

First try at the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto

In May of 2015, I decided to try out the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto. On Amazon I found a pink Earth styled Coleto barrel and the matching ten color refill in 0.4mm. So I went ahead and placed my order and a few days later my pen barrel and ink inserts arrived.
Immediately, I assembled my pen and tried it out. Right away, I knew that the 0.4mm was way too scratchy for my preference.
Once I realized that the 0.4mm size was too scratchy I gave up on the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto and switched over to the Uni Style Fit multi-pen. You can read my review of the Uni Style Fit here.

Second try at the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto

A month later I decided to give the Pilot Hi-Tec-C-Coleto a second chance. Again, I found a champagne gold 4 color Coleto barrel on Amazon. This time around I decided to order the 0.5mm, fifteen color set of ink inserts. I felt a little unlike Goldilocks trying out the bears house, only I was trying pen nib sizes on a multi-pen. Once I tried this out, I knew this pen nib was the correct size for my preference.

All About the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto

Let me introduce you to the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto. The Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto is a custom multi-pen. The barrels and ink refills are sold individually so you can customize your Coleto however you would like. The ink refills are available in an array of fifteen different colors as well as a pencil and eraser insert. The Coleto comes in three nib sizes – 0.3mm, 0.4mm and 0.5mm.
The top of the Coleto is hinged and it flips open to allow you access to the pen body. To insert the ink cartridge into the pen, you slide it into the track and coil in the pen and then close the hinged door.
For the pen to operate you press down on the colored plunger of the ink you want to write with. My favorite place to purchase other Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto barrels and ink refills is JetPens, hands down.

I find this pen to be very handy. I am able to completely customize my pen with the colors I want and carry only the specific colors I need to use.

If you are looking for a great customizable multi-pen, I highly recommend the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto. It makes carrying multiple colors easier and planning a breeze.

If you have any other pens that are your favorite, do me a favor and list them in the comments below!

*All of the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto barrels and ink refills pictured or listed in this blog post were purchased by me, with my own money. This review is completely of my own opinion and without any bias.

Why Happy Mail Monday Is No More

I know it’s been a while since my last blog post, especially a Happy Mail Monday post. But while I’ve been gone from my blog I’ve beehatn reflecting on the direction I want my blog to go, including new content for my blog. In analyzing my blog I’ve realized there are a couple of reasons for me to discontinue my Happy Mail Monday posts.

1. I realized that Happy Mail Monday wasn’t adding quality content, for you, my readers. Although the posts were fun to write and show off the new things I had acquired in the previous week, that was all they were. A method for showing off my new material possessions. And here at Canyon Howls, we believe that we are more than our mere material possessions.

2. Happy Mail Monday was actually becoming quite costly. To continue to have new material (pun intended) for each Happy Mail Monday, it required that I spend my own money to continue to have fresh, new content for you each week. And buying new items each week is in conflict with our overall beliefs here at Canyon Howls.

Part of the ideology behind our tagline, “Instinctual Living” here at Canyon Howls, is to become debt free. Because in the wild, our animal friends don’t live with or carry debt. So I feel spending money frivolously and not applying it wisely towards my debt is in conflict with our approach to life, and especially “Instinctual Living”.

Now, just because I am discontinuing Happy Mail Monday doesn’t mean I will no longer be blogging. With some of the items I obtained during my Happy Mail Monday I plan to do some product reviews. So you will still see some of my material possessions but in a way that hopefully adds value. I for sure have a few reviews on my Fauxdoris, the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto and Uni Style Fit multi pens and a review of my monthly subscription to Happie Scrappie, which is the one planner product I’m allowing myself to keep.

I will also do unpacking reviews of the packages I get from my planner buddy. I hope you can respect my reasons for discontinuing this particular series and welcome new blog content.

I’d love in the comments below if you’d share something you are discontinuing in your own life as we are all a work in progress and working towards bettering our lives.
